Releasing turtles on the beach with the Eco-Bahia Foundation

12/01/2018

Playa Aventuras DIF: One of the most important nesting sites in the state of Quintana Roo is located right in front of the Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Resort. The "Turtle Camp" operation is carried out in collaboration with the Bahia Principe Ecological Foundation and Flora, Fauna y Cultura de México, A.C. Working together, they promote the care and conservation of the sea turtles that nest in the region. As part of this program, the 2018 season closed with the presence of local children, who were in charge of bidding farewell to the last offspring of the year.

Katia Cordourier, director of Eco-Bahia, indicated that the foundation reaffirms its commitment to the care of this species and stressed the importance of joining forces with other groups and companies that have distinguished themselves for their work in protecting this endangered species.

Accompanied by our little guests, the ecological foundation team gave a brief explanation about the birth, care and importance of conserving this species. This is how "Gloria", "Rosi", or "Thor" (names that the children gave the baby turtles), began their journey toward the Caribbean Sea in search of what will be their home for life. Children and adults alike had the opportunity to witness this extraordinary gift of nature. Congratulations!
