Under the slogan "Toward a Prosperous City", the Third Regional Sustainability Forum was held on November 15 and 16. Bahia Principe Residences was one of the sponsors of this event, where international speakers addressed sensitive and important issues for the state with a sustainable vision of development and growth, helping to reduce inequality among families in Quintana Roo.
The forum was inaugurated on November 15 at the Cancun International Convention Center, at nine o'clock in the morning. The sessions addressed issues of governance, productivity, quality of life, sustainability, infrastructure, equity and social inclusion so that more families can access more and better opportunities, as pledged by Governor Carlos Joaquin.
This was announced by the Secretary of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (SEDETUS), Carlos Ríos Castellanos, who confirmed the presence of the UN-Habitat coordinator for Mexico and Cuba, Pablo Vaggione Pelegrín, who gave a conference on the Prosperous Cities Index.
A Committee was created for the Third Regional Sustainability Forum, made up of SEDETUS, CANADEVI, INFONAVIT, COPARMEX, UN-HABITAT, CMIC, IMPLAN, AMPI, architects' and engineers' associations in the state, and the Universidad del Caribe, La Salle and Anahuac Cancún.
Other speakers included Rogelio Jiménez Pons, next director of the National Fund for Tourism Development (FONATUR); Carlos Zedillo Velasco, deputy director of INFONAVIT; Andrés Ortíz Gómez, district planning secretary in Bogotá; and Francisco Burquez Valenzuela, chairman of the Commission for Urban Development and Territorial Planning in the Senate from September 2012 to August 2018.
